Environmental Science, Maambakoort Senior School.
On Wednesday, the 30th of October, Kirsty and the Mambakoort senior school students went to the Rockingham Foreshore for a beach clean. We walked just over 5 kilometres and saw two snakes and a bobtail lizard. We picked up two bin bags worth of rope, hard and soft plastics, aluminium, and cigarettes. During a break in our cleanup, we looked at the Castaways sculptures and went to the Rockingham Art Centre to see the small sculptures made, too. We had a great time cleaning and experiencing the outdoors, watching the birds and the reptiles. The weather was perfect for a good day out.
On return to school Thursday for Numeracy class, we sorted the contents of the cleanup, discussing quantities and their categories. Most of the rubbish found was plastics.
