Welcome back to Term 1, 2023. Many new families have joined us in both Rockingham and Lakelands and we are delighted to introduce you to Montessori for the very young. There is still some availability at both venues so please feel free to recommend us to a friend or two. We offer a free trial for all new families. Please call the office on 9528 2118 to book a trial session.

There is plenty of new work available on the shelves to suit our very young children. Our Practical Life area has a new favourite job with the addition of a child-safe peeler and knife set. These cleverly designed items facilitate the incident-free preparation of cucumbers and carrots etc. Children love to help with food preparation at home and feel a great sense of achievement and joy from actively participating towards a common goal (putting dinner on the table). The child is also more likely to taste and enjoy different foods when they themselves are involved in the growing, preparing and/or cooking process. Our art shelf is also very popular with plenty of activities from card making or silk crayon drawing, to acrylic on canvas and watercolours on special paper. Start collecting your child’s work and save the cost of buying commercial cards for family celebrations. There is nothing more precious than a handmade greeting from a child.

Just a friendly reminder to only take photographs of your own child/children during our session. If a child (other than your own) is in the picture taken, you must delete that photo unless you have gained prior permission from the child’s parent/guardian to allow the photo to be taken. It is best to avoid taking photos during our group time due to the close proximity of the children with each other. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.

Please remember your hat and sunscreen at this time of the year. Parents and caregivers too! Currently, it is too hot and sunny in the latter part of the morning to use the outdoor kitchen in a sun-smart way. As such, it will be packed away early to encourage the children to work inside, and out of the sun.
