Central to the Upper Primary cycle is the development of the reasoning mind. To that end, all Dugongs children are encouraged to investigate a topic of their own interest. The method of study is chosen to suit the topic and the research questions. Here are some of the projects:
two children pulled apart an old computer to develop a greater understanding of electronics
one child developed a recipe for apple pie which was then tested
two groups of children are making movies
one child has extended geometry lessons to measure perimeter, then surface area and now volume
one child is writing a novel
several children have collaborated to start a basketball team
one child has invented “silent maths” and is extending their understanding of indices
we are all working together to understand the impact of latitude and longitude by creating our own version of Earth
two children are researching Norse mythology
