Express Your Interest

What a wonderful night we had on Friday. Thank you Mary and all your helpers for making the Foam Party such fun and for commencing our 40th birthday year celebrations. We encourage families to join us on Thursday 27th March at 7pm online for our Community Spirit meeting to discuss plans for our Term 2 event.

Work commenced over the Labour Day long weekend on the Penguins classroom renovations providing internal access to the bathroom facilities. You may also have noticed the concrete section removed from the Koolangara Garden and over the coming weeks a sandpit and turf will be installed to complete this transformation for the new Child Care class. I am delighted to say we have had great interest for this new service and we look forward to it commencing next term.

Last weekend we were thrilled to receive our new shelves for the two Children’s House classes at the West Coast Early Learning Centre in Port Kennedy and I thank the staff who worked over the weekend to set up the new equipment for these prepared environments. We were also very excited to have the fences for our three younger classrooms installed which now allows the classroom doors to remain open enabling the children to have a natural indoor outdoor flow to the outdoor classroom areas. This extension of our classroom spaces has allowed the expansion of numbers in our babies room (6 months – 18 months) to twelve, as this is the group we have the longest waitlist for.

Next week we welcome back to staff Queenie Massie who will fill our new role as Facilities Officer. Queenie will work across all sites to ensure our facilities for our children are maintained at an exceptional standard. Some of our families may remember Queenie as she was previously our Finance Manager. Queenie then worked at Blue Gum Montessori and The Montessori School to support their building works and we are delighted to have her return to us.

I would like to thank Clare for arranging the SERCUL incursion for the primary school children this week. This presentation was on the six Noongar seasons and the plants and animals found around the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River). This aligns with our outcomes in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). If you would like to join our RAP committee, we meet 20th March at 7pm online, please email reception@rms.wa.edu.au for the link to this meeting.
