Express Your Interest

Families, students (Upper Primary to Senior school-aged) and staff will shortly receive information on our annual survey, open for your feedback from 26 August through to 6 September.  This is your opportunity to provide feedback on a range of areas across the school and to ensure the school has continual improvement that meets our families/staff needs.  We encourage each Parent/Guardian to provide feedback rather than just providing a family response.

Our School Board are commencing work on a new School Strategic Plan.  Along with feedback on the School Surveys, we invite you to attend a visioning evening on Tuesday 8 October from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm in the Adolescent Program Meeting Room. Members of the School Board will share ideas for plans/concepts for the Rockingham Montessori School Association. Following this event, a series of small group sessions will be held on Wednesday 9 October. These sessions will provide an opportunity to give feedback on the plans presented the previous evening. For catering purposes, we require RSVP’s for these sessions, please email reception@rms.wa.edu.au to confirm your attendance. Session times are;

9.00 am – 10.15 amParent/Guardian group – feedback and brainstorming session for Parents/Guardians
10.30 am – 11.45 amStudent Group – feedback and brainstorming session for students
1.00 pm – 2.00 pmStaff Group – feedback and brainstorming session for staff

As a Montessori School, one of our key values is respect for the community and as such, we value your input into meeting our mission.

“to provide a Montessori environment in which the needs of the whole child are met in a nurturing, safe and caring school, by encouraging independence, mutual respect and self-discipline so that students are prepared to take their place in the world.”

I would like to thank Jodi Kerslake for establishing our RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) Working Group that has been meeting throughout this year to establish our Reconciliation Action Plan. This work has been through the Narragunnawali website Narragunnawali – Narragunnawali Home and we are part way through completing our first plan for Rockingham Montessori School. The group have uploaded the Vision Statement and are currently working on writing an Acknowledgement of Country and completing Actions for our selected focus areas. There are forty Actions in total that can be selected, with fourteen of these being essential to be included in the RAP. These Actions are grouped under the following headings of Relationships, Respect and Opportunities.  As the RAP Working Group continues this plan will be shared with our whole school community. We welcome any members of our school community wishing to join this working group for our online fortnightly meetings, our next meeting set for 7.00 pm on 29 August.

Plans are certainly coming together for the Montessoirée which will be held on Friday 30 August from 4.00 pm – 7.00 pm at the Adolescent Program site.  If you would like to reserve a table for your stall please email reception@rms.wa.edu.au or if you would like to promote your business please drop your marketing materials into reception. This will be a fun evening for all members of your family and we look forward to celebrating Maria Montessori’s birthday together.
