On the 6th March the Janda class made balloon cars for Science. To make them we needed 1 plastic bottle, 4 plastic bottle tops, 1 balloon, 1 rubber band, 3 straws and 2 wooden skewers.
We spent all afternoon making them and worked in groups to make sure our cars worked properly.  It was great fun!!
This is how you make them.
  • Cut a hole in the middle of the bottle (which will be the top when it’s laying down)
  • Make holes in the middle of the bottle tops
  • Make sure the skewers can fit through the bottle tops!
  • Cut the straws so that they are slightly longer than the width of the bottle
  • Sticky tape the 2 straws at the font and back of the bottle
  • Put the bottle tops on the skewers and thread the skewers through the straws
  • The last straw is to be threaded through the hole in the top (middle of the bottle), attached to the balloon with a rubber band.
  • The end of the straw needs to come out of the mouth of the bottle.
  • Use that straw to blow up the balloon and let the car go!!

Fig Jam

Jam… simple, but delicious! It comes in many different flavours: strawberry, raspberry, marmalade, even blueberry!

But have you ever made or eaten fig jam?

Well that’s what three people from the Janda class tried making, with figs donated from a lovely family.

Here’s how you can too!

First, go to https://taste.com.au then search for the Easy Fig Jam recipe, and follow the recipe from there!

(DISCLAMER: this may be the best jam you’ve had in your life!)

(DOUBLE DISCLAIMER: for better jam you may want them to be wrinkly)
