Dolphins have so enjoyed being back in the environment this year, chatting and working together and helping new friends who have joined the class.
We are lucky to have a wonderful cultural celebration to start off with – Lunar New Year! In a Montessori environment, children gain a world view from a young age. They begin to realise they are part of a larger community. Maria Montessori’s goal was to promote global understanding and international peace. The children learn to identify the continents and many countries, becoming aware of different people and their cultures – their homes, clothing, food and customs.
We have enjoyed making paper dragons as it is the Year of the Dragon this year. Together with the other Children’s Houses, we prepared and ate savoury noodles – yum! We also learned a song and a dragon dance together using a big red cloth and a dragon head made from a box which was really fun. Gong Xi Fa Cai – Happy New Year!
