Last term we had a Hospital Familiarisation Programme for our full time students. The aim of the incursion was to address the emotional and social needs of children and to decrease the fear and anxiety that children may have about going to hospital. The children enjoyed learning about medical equipment and aspects of going to hospital. They shared their experiences about seeing doctors and going to the hospital. All the children had fun using real equipment and role-played being Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons and patients. They dressed up in hospital uniforms and best part for some was that they could have a turn on the wheel chair and make use of the crutches.
