It is with sadness I inform Julie Lindstead will be retiring at the end of the year. Julie has been a wonderful asset to our whole school over the past three years as our music teacher, along with being our Science specialist in the Barna Marlak sub-school in the Adolescent Program. Julie will be greatly missed by all of her students and I know they will particularly miss her sense of fun whether it be on the ukulele or with her science experiments including making elephant toothpaste.
Thank you Julie, for your commitment to setting up both the Barna Marlak sub-school and our new AP science and music labs.
We are in the process of conducting a range of interviews for new staff across the school. With two of our Education Assistants, Renae and Nurjana taking maternity leave, Scarlett also taking maternity leave and the retirement of Helen and Julie, along with the growth of both the Turtles and the Adolescent Program we have several staff placements to fill. Stay tuned for the announcement of these appointments at the beginning of next term once the contracts are all signed.
We would like to welcome Jo Benson to staff as the ‘Out of School Hours Care Nominated Supervisor. The OSHC program has continued to grow in popularity over the past two years and with the fun holiday program that is offered by the team along with the 6am-6pm in-term care that is provided across both Primary School campuses, it has come the time where we needed to appoint a supervisor to oversee all aspects of the program. Thank you for taking on this role Jo and please feel free to contact Jo directly for any information about the OSHC program at JBenson@rms.wa.edu.au or OSHC@rms.wa.edu.au .
I am really pleased that the second block of face-to-face workshops for the AMI 3-6 years Diploma commenced this week in the Penguins classroom and will run through the holidays.
Last month the AMI 12 – 18 years Diploma course commenced and the face-to-face component for this course will be held throughout January at Fairbridge Village in Pinjarra. This is the first time these courses have been run in WA and RMS is hosting both courses to ensure we have ongoing Montessori-trained teachers across WA. It is also wonderful to welcome teachers and trainers from across the globe to our little school and really puts RMS at the forefront of Montessori training. RMS is currently negotiating with the Sydney Montessori Training College to host the AMI 6-12 years Diploma which would commence in August 2023.
If you know of any teachers or aspirating Montessori teachers who would like to undertake this course please advise reception@rms.wa.edu.au to ensure we can keep them abreast of this course scheduling.
I would like to thank all families and staff for undertaking the annual survey over the last two weeks and I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday break.
