I am very sad to inform our school community that the amazing Deb Dwyer will be retiring at the end of the year. Deb has been with our school since 2015 as our Dolphins teacher. Deb has had a profound impact on so many within our school community as she has such an incredible depth of Montessori knowledge that she willingly shared through the Montessori Morning Chats, parent education evenings and support for Children’s House children and families. Deb’s background as an architect assisted the school with the design and development of the Rockingham playground areas, Karnup masterplan and two Port Kennedy sites. I can not thank Deb enough for stepping in to the Bandicoot room at West Coast Montessori Early Learning Centre at the beginning of this year, as she established a beautiful prepared environment and worked with the existing staff to embrace the Montessori philosophy enabling the transition of the centre. Working with Deb is a joy and the entire staff feel at ease sharing difficult moments knowing she always is there to support and guide in her quiet, unassuming nurturing manner. Deb you will be greatly missed by our school community as you are loved by all, but we wish you every happiness in now having time to spend with your own grandchildren as you enter the next phase of your life’s journey.
We welcome to our administration team Jacinta Chelliah. Jacinta joins us at the Port Kennedy campus in reception however will be working across the school as Information Technology support and will undertake a combined marketing and enrolments role. Jacinta has a strong background in school administration and we are delighted in how she has seamlessly slotted into our admin team since joining us two weeks ago.
I would like to thank those families who joined us for the School Visioning Evening and workshop sessions last week. Our school board spent last Sunday visiting each site of the school and West Coast Montessori to look at the developments occurring on these sites and to also workshop all of the feedback provided through the Parent, Student and Staff Surveys completed last term and the feedback from the sessions held earlier in the week with parents, students and staff. We have now identified the core areas of our new strategic plan and many strategies required to complete the goals. We aim to have this document ready to share with you at the beginning of the year. I have had several families ask us to share the presentation again from the Visioning Evening and as a result we have changed our parent ed session on Wednesday 23 October to again show and discuss the content that was delivered at this event. We will commence this presentation at 6pm and a creche will be available for this event. We hope you can join us to hear about the future of your school.
This week is National Children’s Week and we have attended the Mandurah Early Years Action Group event held at Caterpiller Park and also the Rockingham Teddy Bears Picnic at Fantasy Park where we were able to share with families information about our Infant Toddler Program, Children’s House classes and also West Coast Montessori Early Learning Centre.
