I hope you are enjoying the videos we have been producing of our Adolescent Students on Facebook and our website. In our parent surveys last term we had a number of comments about families wanting to know how the Adolescent Program works and how our students enter further studies after graduation. We are in the process of having our students articulate these pathways whilst also sharing their stories around the work they are doing across Middle and Senior School Programs. If you would like further information, I encourage you to book an Adolescent Program tour on our website or arrange an observation in the Adolescent Program by emailing Wendy on ap@rms.wa.edu.au. We are delighted for our year 12 students as their university placements are now starting to come through. Congratulations to Cohen for gaining a place in History at Murdoch University, Gigi for your place at Murdoch University in Creative Media and Game Art Design and Keira for your place at UWA in Arts. We look forward to receiving more offers for the remaining students over the coming weeks.
Next year there will be some changes to our Upper Primary classes on the Rockingham site. The cost of living increases have affected our student numbers and as such, we will be combining the Dugong and Turtles classes. As of term 1 2025, our Upper Primary children will join in the Turtle’s class with Lucy. We have absolutely loved having Lani with us as the Dugongs teacher this year however as her contract ends, we say a fond farewell and hope to see her in the future as we rebuild our student numbers again. This term the concertina wall has been open between the Upper Primary classes so the children had more opportunity to make friends and get used to working with Lucy and Jess. The Adolescent Program is very fortunate to have Kaitlyn joining them next year and we wish her all the best as she moves to that site in her Education Assistant role.
With the Our Place OSHC service moving off site we have now been able to have families join us after school on site again. I am really pleased that the Stay and Play afternoon’s held at the Rockingham campus are going well with a large number of families attending and all enjoying catching up with each other. We encourage all families to join us each Thursday from 3 – 4pm on the school site. We would love our Port Kennedy families to join us on a Friday afternoon for our Snack and Chats at the playground area. We will recommence this weekly from Friday 15 November so please come along to catch up with other families.
I would like to thank Christie and Scarlett Turley for their work with the recent Book Fair at the Port Kennedy campus where $183 worth of books have now been selected for our class libraries due to the sales made on the day. Thank you also to Mary Edmonds for bringing together all of the logistics for the upcoming Carols on the Green event. We look forward to seeing all our families for this night on 29 November.
