This week the students are working on fractions using a fraction circle. Understanding fractions is an incredibly important concept as it forms a basis for later higher math, chemistry, physics, and many practical life activities.

The metal fraction circles used across all the Rockingham Montessori campuses allow students to see equivalent fractions. Starting with 1/2, students are asked to find the next equivalent e.g. 2/4, 4/8 etc. One of the students working on their fractions today had already used the fraction circle and was challenged to complete the same work with geometry squares.
