Children in the Dolphins and Penguins classes thoroughly enjoyed the recent Ocean Discovery Incursion.
We learned some interesting facts about different sea creatures. Did you know what we refer to as a starfish is actually called a sea star? And male seahorses care for and carry the babies!

Children had the opportunity to hold sea stars and pet a sea cucumber, there were a few surprised faces as the texture was not what they expected. The children discovered you can hear the ocean by holding shells to your ear, listening joyfully to the sea through some beautiful shells before giggling as they tried on snorkelling equipment and tried to walk the the flippers. We then discussed ways we could care for our oceans, including collecting rubbish on our beach walks.
